Each term, the students complete a DAT which is a project to show what they have learnt about our theme. This week the students in 2KM were busy planning and creating posters with a persuasive slogan to tell people how they can look after the sea. Check out our posters and leave a comment to let us know what you think!

Hello 2KM,
I really enjoyed your persuasive posters about how to care for the sea. It is very important that we all try to take care of our oceans. I live 10 minutes from the Atlantic ocean, and I love to swim and surf in the summer. I always pick up plastic litter that I see.
I really liked your ideas about using green bags instead of plastic bags! As you know, plastic bags are very harmful, especially to turtles and sea birds.
We are learning about protecting rainforests right now, but in April we will learn about taking care of all of the earth. I will be sure to share your posters with my class!

Dear Mr Salsich,
Thank you for your kind words about our posters. We also live a short distance from many great beaches and with the warmer weather we’re having lately some of us have loved visiting our beaches.
Our students want to know do you have green bags in America? They are becoming very common here and some shops have even started charging for plastic bags to help our environment.
We are glad you love to look after our precious sea life too!

Dear Miss McGeady and 2KM,
Yes, we do have green bags in America. Most people call the cloth bags. They are becoming more common, but most people still use plastic bags. I always have my green bags in my car so I use them whenever I go to the store. I also use a metal water bottle so that I don’t waste plastic bottles. Do a lot of people drink bottled water in Australia?
My class also learns about using washable plastic containers for snacks and lunches instead of little plastic bags.
Keep up the great work of taking care of the earth!

Dear Mr Salsich,
It is good to hear that you use your cloth bags and we hope a lot more Americans stop using plastic soon too.
Quite a few people do drink bottled water in Australia. Plastic containers for snacks and lunches is a great idea and many students in 2KM use these to help our environment.
We look forward to finding out more about saving the earth from your students!

Well done 2KM. If everybody took note of your wonderful posters, what a better world we would live in! Here’s hoping that some people change their habits because they have seen your great posters.
