Introducing Collaboration Corner

Posted by: Kathleen McGeady | February 22, 2010 | 8 Comments |

Over the past twelve months, 2KM has made firm friends with Mrs Yollis’ Class in California. This friendship came about when we happened to discover each other’s blogs and started leaving comments to get to know each other. Since then, we have become “blogging buddies” and regularly check out what is happening in each other’s class.

We have learnt a lot from getting to know our friends on the other side of the world.

Check out Mrs Yollis’ Class Blog by clicking here or on the picture below.

Mrs Yollis' Class

In December, 2KM Skyped with Mrs Yollis’ Class. Click here to read about it. This was a fantastic experience and we plan to do it again with the 2010 2KM class very soon. Stay tuned for a post about that!

Recently, Miss McGeady and Mrs Yollis have been collaborating on ways we can get our classes to work together. We have created a new blog for our joint projects called “Collaboration Corner(collaboration means working together).

Our first project will be a lunch box project. You can read more about this on our blog and the Collaboration Corner blog in the next week or two. We got the idea of a lunch box project from our “blogging buddies” in Western Australia – The Smarties. Click here to read about The Smarties project.

Having blogging buddies is very important to us. We love to collaborate and learn together with students from across Australia and the world.

Check out our list of “Blogs we Like” on the side panel and leave a few of our blogging buddies a comment!

Hi Miss McGeady and the Year 2s!

We’re very glad you liked our lunch exchange idea. We’re finding it very fun to do. Last week, we did it with a school in Kentucky, USA and this week we’re sharing with a school in Venezuela. American foods were a little different to ours, but we expect to find that lunches in Venezuela will be very different! We shall see!

Your blog looks great. We’ll be checking back regularly to see how your projects and class work is going.

Love from Mrs N and The Smarties

Dear Miss McGeady and your students what a great idea about the lunch exchange project. It will be very interesting to see what different foods and if some of the food they eat are the same as ours. I wonder if there will be alot of similarities? from AA.

@ AA, I also wonder if there will be many similarities. It will be great to find out what our American friends like to eat!

    Dear Miss Mcgeady,

I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the weekend and it was yummy. I have it in my lunch again today.

I really like our Autumn tree.
